本州、九州及び伊豆諸島から知られる。インドネシア、中国及び台湾にも分布し、恐らく東南アジアに広く分布するものと思われる。フウトウカズラの若い葉に虫えい（フウトウカズラハチジミフシ）を作りその中に生息する。

This species is known from Honshu, Kyushu, and the Izu Islands. It is also distributed in Indonesia, China, and Taiwan, and is likely widely distributed in Southeast Asia. It induces shrinked leaf galls on the young leaves of Piper species [Piperaceae], such as Piper kadsura.
